Anthropic announced that it is opening an office in Singapore next month and will hire locally as it expands its presence in Asia-Pacific amid strong enterprise demand for its Claude AI platform.
The Singapore office, set to open in October, will be Anthropic’s fifth in the region after Tokyo, Bengaluru, Seoul, and Sydney.
Singapore is the second-highest market globally for Claude.ai usage relative to population among 121 countries, according to Anthropic’s latest Economic Index. Usage in the city-state is 5.81 times higher than would be expected based on its population size.
“As we grow across APAC, opening an office in Singapore—where Claude usage per capita is among the highest in the world—is a natural next step,” said Chris Ciauri, managing director of international at Anthropic.
Anthropic said it expects to work with startups, digital companies, large enterprises, and public-sector organisations in Singapore, with demand particularly strong among regulated industries including financial services and government.
The company has appointed Dale Finlay as general manager of ASEAN, based in Singapore, where he will oversee relationships with customers and partners across Southeast Asia.
Finlay previously held go-to-market leadership positions at technology companies across Asia-Pacific, including almost a decade at Google Cloud, where he worked across artificial intelligence, financial services, and enterprise businesses.
Anthropic said Singapore’s concentration of technical talent, global companies, research institutions, and innovation infrastructure made it an important market for its regional expansion.
The company said it is also seeking to work with Singapore policymakers, research institutions, and industry partners on AI adoption, with a focus on responsible deployment.
The opening of the Singapore office comes as Anthropic, Macquarie Asset Management, and Singapore sovereign wealth fund GIC have formed a strategic partnership to develop and operate data centres for lease to Anthropic under long-term agreements.
The partnership, under the platform Theseus Infrastructure, will purpose-build data centres with an initial focus in the US to support Anthropic’s growing capacity, the three firms earlier said.
GIC first invested in Anthropic in September 2025 in its $13 billion Series F fundraising.
In May, Anthropic raised $65 billion in a Series H funding round led by Altimeter Capital, Dragoneer, Greenoaks, and Sequoia Capital, which valued the Claude maker at $965 billion post-money.
