Bank of America has hired Goldman Sachs banker Srijith Nair as head of Asia excluding China financial institutions group investment banking and Asia-Pacific insurance investment banking, according to an internal memo seen by Reuters on Thursday.

Nair will be based in Singapore and report to Michael Evans, Bank of America’s head of Asia-Pacific financial institutions group investment banking, the memo said.

He joins from Goldman Sachs, where he was most recently the head of financial institutions group for Southeast Asia.

Nair has nearly 20 years of investment banking experience advising banks, insurers, asset managers and leasing companies across Asia, the memo said.

He previously held senior investment banking roles at Barclays, Daiwa and Citigroup.

The financial institutions group, or FIG, covers companies such as banks, insurers and asset managers.

“This appointment will further strengthen our Top 3 FIG franchise in Asia Pacific, while enhancing connectivity and collaboration across our global platform,” Evans said in the memo.

BofA declined to comment.
