DSG Consumer Partners acquires bback

Singapore-based venture capital firm DSG Consumer Partners has acquired recovery and wellness brand bback from Evo Commerce. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.

DSG Consumer Partners acquired the Singapore-born brand alongside Saket Gore, former Asia Pacific CEO of Himalaya Wellness, who will take over as bback’s chief executive, according to an announcement.

Founded as an alcohol recovery brand, bback has expanded its product portfolio to include hydration and liver wellness products. It is distributed through more than 400 points of sale in Singapore, including Guardian and Watsons, as well as e-commerce platforms.

Under the new ownership, bback plans to broaden its positioning beyond alcohol recovery into a wider range of recovery and wellness products.

Singapore will remain the brand’s primary market in the near term, per the announcement.

BYD opens Indonesia EV plant

Chinese electric vehicle maker BYD has opened a manufacturing plant in Indonesia with annual production capacity of 150,000 vehicles, according to media reports.

The West Java facility has recruited nearly 9,000 workers and is expected to eventually employ about 18,000 people, Governor Dedi Mulyadi was quoted as saying.

The plant gives BYD a local manufacturing base as demand for electric vehicles grows in Indonesia. BYD’s sales in the country have tripled since 2023, according to the Indonesian Automotive Industry Association.

BYD’s investment also adds to growing industrial activity in West Java. The province recorded 138.1 trillion rupiah ($7.74 billion) in realised investment in the first half of 2026, creating 246,887 jobs.

BYD’s global sales rose for a third straight month in July, with robust overseas demand continuing to help offset softer conditions in its home market.
