PT Global Digital Indonesia (GDI), a vehicle under Djarum Group’s investment arm GDP Venture, has taken control of PT Narasi Citra Sahwahita, which operates the Indonesian digital media outlet Narasi.
The takeover was approved by shareholders of Narasi Citra Sahwahita, according to an announcement by the company. The change was approved and notified to Indonesia’s Ministry of Law on Sept. 2.
Based on the corporate filings seen by DealStreetAsia, GDI now owns 6,910 of Narasi’s 6,911 shares. PT Merah Cipta Media, a Djarum-linked digital media and advertising subsidiary, holds the remaining share, giving GDI a 99.99% stake in the company. Narasi has a paid-up capital of 6.91 billion rupiah.
The filing also records changes to the company’s shareholders, directors, and commissioners. Catharina Davy Sopamena is listed as president director, Dahlia Citra Buana as director, and Antonny as commissioner. Antonny Liem is the founding partner at GDP Venture.
Narasi was founded in 2018 by Najwa Shihab, Dahlia Citra, and Catharina Davy. GDI had previously backed the company, alongside Go-Ventures, which later became Argor Capital.
The takeover gives Djarum control of another established Indonesian digital media platform, following its reported acquisition of Kumparan.
DealStreetAsia reported in December 2024 that Djarum has acquired Indonesian digital media firm Kumparan as Argor Capital exited. The deal would make GDP Venture the sole shareholder of Kumparan.
GDP had initially invested in Kumparan in 2017, according to previous reports, making the latest move on Narasi a continuation of Djarum’s strategy of backing Indonesian digital media companies through GDP Venture.
GDP Venture’s current portfolio also shows the breadth of its exposure to the media and entertainment sector. Its portfolio includes Narasi and Kumparan alongside IDN Times, IDN Pictures, Popbela, Popmama, Bolalob, Duniaku, 88t, 12Wired, Now United, Visinema, and Yummy, among others.
