Temasek-backed Temus invests in PH's Thinking Machines, and other SE Asia deals

The Philippines-based artificial intelligence (AI) and data transformation company Thinking Machines Data Science has secured investment from Temasek-backed AI firm Temus, according to an announcement.

Thinking Machines, which has built AI and cloud data platforms for over 100 organisations across financial services, retail, and the public sector, did not disclose financial details of the strategic investment.

The investment, Temus said, will help the Manila-headquartered company expand its regional footprint while preserving its brand, leadership, and operations. Thinking Machines said it has trained more than 10,000 professionals and became OpenAI’s first official Services Partner in Asia-Pacific.

Founder and Chief Executive Officer Stephanie Sy will continue to lead the company, which will operate as “Thinking Machines Data Science, a Temus entity,” while also joining Temus’ leadership team as managing director for Applied AI.

“We built Thinking Machines on the belief that the Philippines can build and scale world-class AI capability,” Sy said. “Joining the Temus group allows us to pursue that ambition at a much greater scale while staying true to our team, our clients, and our mission.”
