UOB Vietnam invests $450m to build UOB Plaza Ho Chi Minh City
UOB Vietnam has invested approximately $450 million in the construction of UOB Plaza Ho Chi Minh City, becoming the first foreign bank to develop and own a purpose-built headquarter within the Vietnam International Financial Centre in Ho Chi Minh City (VIFC HCMC), according to an announcement.
The investment reflects the bank’s long-term commitment to Vietnam as a core market within its ASEAN strategy, and completes its network of owned headquarters across its five core ASEAN markets—Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam.
By establishing its Vietnam headquarters within the VIFC HCMC, UOB is strengthening its role in supporting Vietnam’s growing connectivity with regional and global capital, trade and investment flows.
Located at 2 Ton Duc Thang Street in the Ba Son area, the 36-storey, 160-metre tower will serve as UOB’s Vietnam headquarters. Designed by Gensler, the building will target BCA Green Mark sustainability certification.
UOB said it also plans to establish a branch within the VIFC HCMC as it expands support for cross-border trade, investment and capital flows between Vietnam and the rest of ASEAN.
G-Group secures approval for $300m AI campus in Hanoi
Vietnam’s G-Group Technology Corporation has received an investment registration certificate to develop G-Campus, a nearly $300-million AI-focused digital infrastructure project at Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park in Hanoi.
The project is among the largest planned AI infrastructure developments at Hoa Lac. Spanning over 38,000 square metres, G-Campus will include research and development facilities focused on artificial intelligence, big data, IoT, high-performance computing and cybersecurity, alongside a Tier III AI-ready data centre.
The first phase of the data centre will provide 20MW of IT capacity, expanding to 30MW upon full completion. The campus will offer AI computing, cloud, HPC and data services for government agencies, enterprises and international customers.
Separately, G-Group signed a memorandum of understanding with the Hanoi People’s Committee; and OTECH, the technology arm of Omantel Group in Oman, to jointly develop and operate AI-ready digital infrastructure in Vietnam.
The partnership will cover AI data centres, sovereign cloud platforms, GPU computing, cybersecurity and digital transformation services, with G-Group leading local project execution and operations.
