Aastha started her career as a Television journalist with NDTV, one of India’s oldest broadcast media houses, where she covered banking and finance, after which she joined CNBC TV 18 in India in 2013. During her stint at CNBC, she extensively covered the 5600 cr National Spot Exchange Scam (financial scam). She also covered corporate sectors like power, infrastructure, deals, M&A, regulatory stories and tax during her CNBC stint. Her inclination towards learning new things has brought her close to business feature writing as well. After she moved to Indonesia in 2015, she started working as a contributing writer with the magazine, Forbes Indonesia featuring important businesses of Indonesia, including many global players making a mark here. She has also written opinion articles in the Jakarta Post.

Andi Haswidi

Head, Asean Research

Based in Jakarta, Andi Haswidi is an accomplished researcher, journalist and author. Prior to his current role with DEALSTREETASIA, he was the head of Asean research for FT Confidential, a research unit of the Financial Times. He started his career as a journalist in 2005 when he joined Indonesia’s leading English newspaper, The Jakarta Post, where he later became a business editor. He also had a brief stint as a business editor for Tempo weekly magazine before switching to the field of research for the FT in 2013. Andi is a recipient of the British Chevening Scholarship, with a master’s degree in public policy from University of Bristol. His first book, KOPI: Indonesian Coffee Craft & Culture, was published in 2018 by Afterhours Books, with foreword by President Joko Widodo.

Ardi Wirdana

Correspondent, Indonesia

Ardi Wirdana is the correspondent for DEALSTREETASIA in Indonesia. Since starting his career as a journalist for Indonesia’s leading English daily, The Jakarta Post, in 2011, Ardi has gone on to write for various different publications, covering a range of topics including city, politics, and law. He started covering the Indonesian business scene in 2014 as the Indonesian Correspondent for Singapore-based news and views site Asean Today, before becoming a contributing writer for Nikkei Asian Review. Ardi’s works have also appeared in Indonesia Expat, South China Morning Post, My Salaam and Global Business Guide Indonesia.

Deepshikha Monga

Editor

Deepshikha has over 14 years of experience in media and communication. She started her career as a business journalist with Business Standard and The Economic Times where she reported on information technology, retail and consumer goods. She also did a stint with content solutions firm Alphabet Consulting, developing marketing communication content for global telecom and financial services companies. Prior to joining DEALSTREETASIA, she was a digital marketer at Honeywell, a Fortune 100 technology firm.

Deviana Chuo

Senior Writer, M&A

Deviana has 12 years of experience as a business journalist, started from 2007 when she joined as a reporter for the Indonesia’s newspaper Investor Daily . She covered Indonesia’s capital market related stories and spent three years with Investor Daily. Thereafter, she joined the two-weekly business magazine Fortune for Indonesia edition in which she wrote various business-related stories, including interviewed some Indonesian tycoons. In 2011, Deviana joined Mergermarket as a financial journalist and covered Indonesia’s M&A stories from Jakarta. She then moved to Singapore in 2013 and covered M&A stories in Southeast Asia for Mergermarket.

Eudora Wang

Senior Reporter, Hong Kong

Eudora Wang is a Senior Reporter with DealStreetAsia, primarily tracking and covering the venture capital, private equity and the start-up ecosystem in Hong Kong and China.  

Eudora previously served as the Chief Reporter at Hong Kong-based online media outlet China Money Network, where she focused on technology innovation, smart investments and special situations in Greater China. Prior to China Money Network, Wang worked with Bloomberg Businessweek (Beijing) and Hunan TV Station, China.

She has a Master’s degree in International Journalism Studies from Hong Kong Baptist University and a Bachelor’s degree in Radio & Television from Xi’an International Studies University, China.

Joji Thomas Philip

Founder & Editor-in-Chief

Joji is the founder of DEALSTREETASIA. He is a 24×7 information enthusiast, currently based in Singapore, and leads a pan-Asia team. Prior to this, he was among the most prolific journalists in India, and chronicled the communications/telecoms segment, breaking some of the biggest stories in these sectors, during his tenure at The Economic Times, and Business Standard. Since 2013, he has also been with Mint, a financial daily from HT Media Ltd. Joji has won the Business Standard-Seema Nazareth Award for Excellence in Journalism in March 2006. He is a twitterholic and a soccer fan who is only off the internet when motorcycling in the Himalayas.

Kenneth Lim

Features Editor

Kenneth oversees features at DealStreetAsia. He began his career at the Business Times in Singapore in 2003, covering corporate news and capital markets. He joined the Prospect News in the United States in 2006 and wrote about convertible bonds, structured products, agency debt, and US Treasuries. He returned to the Business Times in 2011 and mainly covered corporate news, capital markets and regulations. Kenneth was also the Business Times’ point journalist on data and infographics and drew the occasional comic. Before leaving the Business Times, Kenneth led the newspaper’s breaking news and startups teams.

Kristie Neo

Senior Writer, Venture Capital & Unicorns

Kristie, based in Singapore, is a Senior Writer at DEALSTREETASIA. Prior to joining DEALSTREETASIA, she was with CNBC International and Channel NewsAsia, where she wrote and produced business stories for television. At We Are Social, a digital agency, Kristie launched iQ Asia, Intel’s first online magazine for the Asia Pacific region. She has also built content strategies for brands such as Twentieth Century Fox and Lavazza. When not writing or reporting, Kristie gives walking tours at the Asian Civilisation Museum in Singapore. She is an advocate for anti-human and anti-sex trafficking in Asia.

Leslie Shaffer

Senior Writer, Southeast Asia

Leslie Shaffer is a senior writer at DealStreetAsia.

Before DealStreetAsia, she was the executive editor of Singapore financial news site Shenton Wire. She has also been a senior writer at CNBC (covering macroeconomics and markets), a reporter and an editor at Dow Jones, the Wall Street Journal and WSJ.com, and has written for the Nikkei News Rise.

In 2019, Leslie was nominated for an SGX Orb award.

She was a member of Singapore’s National Dragonboat Team. In 2015, she took second place in the Hekili Great Barrier Reef Ocean Challenge 45 km iron race in the master women’s division.

Leslie is also a parent to three cats.

Liya Su

Researcher, China

Liya is a bilingual journalist and content specialist with over 7 years of experience covering breaking news and in-depth stories in Greater China. She is passionate towards journalism and believes in the power news.

She started her career at Guangzhou TV Station, post her masters at the University of Lodz, Poland, later moving on to New Express and Global Times-China’s leading English daily.

When not writing or reporting, she enjoys exploring China’s thriving food & tea culture.

Mars Woo

Correspondent, Philippines

Mars is a Philippine-based journalist with over 15 years of experience covering business and major events in the Philippines and some parts of Southeast Asia. He was Cebu news bureau chief of a leading national newspaper from 2001 to 2016 and was correspondent of Reader’s Digest (Asia) magazine from 2004 to 2013. He was also freelance reporter for ChinaTopix.com, Pasadena Now, Asia Golf Monthly, ParGolf Asia, Business Mirror, and a number of niche business news sites in the region. Mars is a member of the Cebu Federation of Beat Journalists, the only duly-registered organization of beat reporters in the Philippines.

Michelle Teo

Managing Editor, Southeast Asia

Michelle is a journalist with nearly two decades of experience covering business and international affairs. 

She is deeply concerned about the growing gaps in the global economy and believes there is a need to reform capitalism for a more equitable and sustainable system.

She was part of Al Jazeera English’s global launch team in Kuala Lumpur, and her last role was Chief Editor at The Edge Singapore. Michelle obtained her Master of Science in International Relations at the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies.

Ngoc Nguyen

Senior Writer, Private Equity & Venture Capital

Ngoc has 8 years of experience working in media and communication. She was DEALSTREETASIA’s Vietnam-based reporter during the 2015-2017 period, when she was a frequent moderator for local startup events. Ngoc also worked for Mekong Capital, Vietnam’s earliest private equity firm, as the company’s corporate communications officer, before she joined DEALSTREETASIA again in September 2018. Prior to DEALSTREETASIA and Mekong Capital, Ngoc was a financial markets reporter at Vietnam News, the first English-language publication in Vietnam. She was awarded Vietnam Startup Journalist of the Year 2016 by the ASEAN Ricebowl Startup Awards.

J Padmapriya is the news editor for DEALSTREETASIA. A business journalist with 15 years of experience in newsroom operations, she has spent close to a decade in India’s Economic Times and has served stints at VCCircle.com, Financial Express and Asian Age. As deputy editor of VCCircle.com in 2009-2011, she was responsible for the overall production of the website. She was among 12 journalists selected from India for the British Chevening scholarship (2005). She holds a PG degree in English literature from Delhi University and a PG diploma in journalism from the Indian Institute of Mass Communication.

Paramita Chatterjee

Based in Delhi, Paramita is a business journalist with over 16 years of experience. Over the years, she has reported on Mergers and Acquisitions, Private Equity and Venture Capital. Prior to joining DEALSTREETASIA, she was with The Economic Times, Businessworld and Forbes India. She has also had a brief stint at the Confederation of Indian Industry wherein she undertook policy advocacy work to facilitate growth in the infrastructure sector. Paramita is a guest faculty at The Indian Institute of Mass Communication (Dhenkenal).

Pramugdha Mamgain

Correspondent & Content Specialist, India

Pramugdha is the correspondent and content specialist for DEALSTREETASIA in India. She has over five years of experience in reporting and tracking financial news at the Economic Times, a stint as a writer for a travel portal and has also taught economics, marketing, journalism at an MBA programme faculty at Amity University, New Delhi. Pramugdha is a BA (Hons) in Economics from Delhi University. She did her post-graduate studies in economics and then in journalism (Times Centre of Media Studies, New Delhi) and also holds an MBA in finance from Symbiosis, Pune.

Quynh Nguyen

Quynh Nguyen is the Vietnamese consultant for DEALSTREETASIA. She is an enthusiastic journalist with a nose for news. She brings over three years of journalism experience to the team and has written hundreds of stories on Vietnam’s economy. Graduating from Vietnam’s Academy of Journalism and Communications, she joined Vietnam Economic Times as an economic reporter specializing in business, agriculture, startups and real estate. She also collaborated with several private companies in Vietnam as an interpreter. As a journalist, she is convinced that acumen and prudence are the two most important factors for a writer.

Ravi has over two decades of experience as a business journalist, working across print, television and digital at The Economic Times, CNBC-TV18 and most recently Mumbrella Asia. 
 
He has extensive experience covering the marketing and advertising industries.
 
He was the Editor of Brand Equity, the marketing and advertising magazine of India’s leading financial daily, The Economic Times. 
 
He moved to Singapore in 2018 as the Editor of Mumbrella Asia, a site devoted to the marketing and communication industry across the region. 
 
He splits his free time on consuming – and arguing about – music, literary fiction, video games, films and TV series. 

Sarah Yuniarni

Correspondent, Indonesia

Sarah is a correspondent for DEALSTREETASIA in Indonesia. She has a varied background, ranging from handling digital content and social media at Bloomberg TV, writing for Jakarta-based consulting Concord, and, business reporting at english news platform Jakarta Globe. During her stint at the Jakarta Globe, she covered capital market, investments, tech, M&A, infrastructure, and corporate news. Sarah likes to watch movies and read in her free time.

Siew Mung Tan

Siew Mung has spent her career covering Malaysia’s corporates, investment trends, economy and politics in several media including Sin Chew Daily, The Edge and Xinhua News Agency since 2008. Before joining Deal Street as a research, data and features senior writer, she was an ASEAN researcher at FT Confidential Research. She has studied in cities as diverse as Taipei, Warsaw and Sheffield.  She obtained her master’s degree in Politics from the University of Sheffield in 2015.

Anastasiia Tsilyk

Marketing Assistant

Currently a Bachelor’s student at ESSEC Business School in Singapore, Anastasiia is passionate about marketing and events management. She assists marketing functions at DEALSTREETASIA and is one of the coordinators of DEALSTREETASIA’s annual conference Asia PE-VC Summit. Outside of work, Anastasiia either travels around Southeast Asia or explores hiking trails in Singapore.

Executive Assistant

A Business and Marketing graduate from University of London’s 3-year Bachelor degree programme in Singapore University of Social Sciences [SUSS], Yu Min has worked in the marketing teams of renowned retail brand UNIQLO and American multi-national corporation Intel. Conscientious and cheerful, she always strives to serve others with her contributions and support while balancing her family commitments and artistic passions outside of corporate work.

Ipsita

Head, Branding & Digital Marketing

Ipsita is in charge of branding and digital & content marketing at DealStreetAsia.

With 7+ years of experience in editorial and marketing, she plans and executes content for higher visibility, awareness, purpose and engagement. She also oversees all digital and web development efforts at DealStreetAsia.

She has previously been associated with the Bangalore-based public policy think tank The Takshashila Institution, news portals – IBNLive (India), The Huffington Post (US), and Centre for Land Warfare Studies (CLAWS). She is currently based out of and shuttles between Chennai and Kolkata, India.

In her spare time, Ipsita travels, reads and enjoys photography.

Khairunnisa Humairoh

Strategic Partnerships, Indonesia

Khairunnisa is in charge of Strategic Partnerships for DealStreetAsia in Indonesia. Prior to DealStreetAsia, she was associated with Indonesia’s state-owned bank PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk as a banker. She is experienced in client relations and business development for multinationals, large corporations, and the government sector. She is proficient in initiating structured solutions, leading end to end implementations, and managing teams for projects over ten years encompassing her career.

Whenever busy, Khairunnisa practices scrum master and is passionate towards mentoring young people. She also deep dives into time management and home improvement – and how the two can complement and levitate lifestyles.

Maya Sofhiana

Lead, Events & Digital Communications

Maya is responsible for events and digital communications at DealStreetAsia.

She has a background in Microbiology and has worked with Singapore’s Ministry of Health before taking a plunge into the startup world. She is also a Chapter Leader at Lean In Singapore and is passionate about pushing for a more gender-equal business world.

Maya is highly adaptable and a creative thinker who, when being put in different and challenging situations, strives towards the best outcome. As a masters degree holder in innovation, she constantly uses her skills in this arena to drive new concepts.

In her spare time, she enjoys exploring cafes and travelling, and visits at least 2 places she hasn’t been to before, in a year.

Sara Velezmoro

Head, Sponsorships & Marketing

Sara is in charge of partnership and sponsorship activities at DEALSTREETASIA in Singapore. She has a background in business journalism covering emerging economies. Prior to joining DEALSTREETASIA, she gained experience in business development helping a digital startup in London expand across Europe. Sara holds a degree in Economics from the University of Cambridge and is a language enthusiast, being fluent in English, Spanish, French and Italian. In her spare time, she practises hot yoga and enjoys exploring Southeast Asia, her favourite part of the world.

Michael studies Finance and Entrepreneurship in the Farmer School of Business at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. He is particularly interested in venture capital, investment banking, and asset management. He joins the team at DealStreetAsia in hopes to expand his knowledge, experience, and understanding in the investments sector and the Asian markets.

Nick is currently a student at the University of Texas at Austin. He is completing a degree in finance at the McCombs School of Business.
