Anthropic, Macquarie Asset Management, and Singapore sovereign wealth fund GIC have formed a strategic partnership to develop and operate data centres, for lease to Anthropic under long-term agreements.
The partnership, under the platform Theseus Infrastructure, will purpose-build data centres with an initial focus in the US, to support Anthropic’s growing capacity, the three firms said in a statement.
Funds managed by Macquarie Asset Management, together with GIC, will own the platform and fund the majority of the equity for each project.
Anthropic will cover electricity price increases that consumers are expected to face due to the proliferation of data centres, in line with the commitments it announced earlier this year.
Higher energy prices reflect the costs of grid upgrades and the surge in demand for existing power generation capacity. The US AI sector is expected to need at least 50 gigawatts of energy capacity over the next several years.
GIC first invested in Anthropic in September 2025 in its $13 billion Series F fundraising.
In May, Anthropic raised $65 billion in a Series H funding round led by Altimeter Capital, Dragoneer, Greenoaks, and Sequoia Capital, which valued the Claude maker at $965 billion post-money.
