Taiwan's Cathay Life insurance commits $80m to two buyout funds

Cathay Life Insurance, the insurance subsidiary of Taiwanese conglomerate Cathay Financial Holdings, has agreed to commit a total of $80 million to two private equity funds, according to separate stock exchange filings.

The Taiwanese insurer committed $30 million to Vista Equity Partners Fund VIII, the flagship fund of billionaire Robert F Smith’s private equity firm Vista Equity Partners, and another $50 million to Silver Lake Partners VII, the latest buyout fund of American PE firm Silver Lake.
