A consortium led by Swedish investment firm EQT has completed the acquisition of Nord Anglia Education, valuing the company at $14.5 billion, according to an announcement on Thursday.

Other institutional investors in the consortium include Neuberger Berman Private Markets, Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPP Investments), Corporación Financiera Alba, S.A. (CF Alba) and Dubai Holding Investments (Dubai Holding).

“This transaction not only delivers a strong outcome and a successful exit for BPEA Private Equity Fund VI but also marks a defining moment for EQT, as we align with a distinguished group of global investors who share a deep commitment to Nord Anglia’s mission,” said Jean Eric Salata, Chairperson of EQT Asia and Head of Private Capital Asia.

The consortium had announced its intent to acquire Nord Anglia in October last year.

According to an announcement at the time, with this transaction, BPEA Private Equity Fund VIII was expected to be 80-90% invested based on target fund size and subject to customary regulatory approvals.

According to the company statement, the completion of Nord Anglia’s acquisition also brings together a distinguished group of global financial asset managers and institutions, further broadening and strengthening the company’s ownership structure.

This group includes sovereign wealth funds, insurers, and family offices from Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and North America.

Operating over 80 schools in 33 countries, Nord Anglia educates more than 90,000 students from ages 2 to 18. This consortium strengthens Nord Anglia’s position for continued innovation, expansion, and leadership in the global education landscape.

EQT has partnered with Nord Anglia since 2008, deepening its commitment in 2017 when CPP Investments joined as an investor.
