Digital asset investment firm HashKey Capital has secured a Type 1 licence from the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission (SFC), which enables the firm to offer brokerage services to both retail and professional investors in the city, according to a company announcement on Tuesday.
HashKey Capital is looking to expand its investor reach through the new licence. “In addition to retail and institutional investors, HashKey Capital believes its new offerings will be ideal for distribution channels, family offices, and even entities venturing into crypto for the first time, such as insurance companies or endowments,” the firm said in the release.
The Type 1 licence will also enable the crypto investor to market and distribute funds, and structured products, including those related to virtual assets.
In particular, HashKey Capital can offer brokerage services to connect clients from the traditional finance industry to the crypto bourses; as well as crypto-native clients to brokers. The Singapore-headquartered investment firm can also provide investment funds involving quantitative strategies and structured investment products to its clients.
Besides the newly-approved Type 1 licence, HashKey Capital holds a Type 9 licence, enabling the firm to offer asset management products to both retail and institutional clients; and a Type 4 licence that allows the offering of securities and virtual asset investment advisory services.
The firm has also been granted approval to provide discretionary account management for virtual assets under the Type 9 licence in February.
As crypto asset manager under Web3 infrastructure developer and virtual asset group HashKey Group, HashKey Capital has managed over $1 billion of client assets since its inception.
