SC Capital invests $600m in Japan data centre
Singapore-based SC Capital Partners Group has commenced the construction of a new data centre in Osaka, Japan, with a total investment of $600 million for the first phase of development.
The project is supported by a consortium comprising an existing data centre investment programme between SC Capital and an Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA) subsidiary, a major Japanese real estate developer, and SC Capital’s RECAP fund series, according to a statement.
The facility has been allocated 100MW of power and is situated with direct access to robust power infrastructure and major network routes, it said.
SC Capital has also commenced pre-leasing discussions and has received strong interest from leading global cloud service providers and technology companies. The facility is scheduled to commence operations in early 2028.
“Japan continues to stand out as one of the most resilient and rapidly growing digital economies globally,” said Suchad Chiaranussati, Chairman and Founder of SC Capital.
The firm said it is currently advancing additional data centre developments and acquisitions in Japan, South Korea and other key Asia Pacific markets.
