Southeast Asia-focused private equity firm, Sriwijaya Capital, has invested up to $20 million in renewable energy firm PT Sumber Energi Surya Nusantara (SESNA), marking its maiden investment since its debut in October 2025, according to its announcement on Monday.

The transaction is aimed at supporting the expansion of SESNA’s solar power platform across Indonesia, as demand for renewable energy accelerates amid the country’s push toward decarbonisation, to achieve the Net Zero emissions target by 2060.

SESNA develops and operates solar power projects for utility-scale, commercial, industrial, and captive users, and has been active in Indonesia’s solar sector for more than a decade.

Indonesia-based Sriwijaya Capital said it sees SESNA as a well-positioned platform with demonstrated execution capability and disciplined project delivery. As part of the partnership, the private equity firm will work closely with SESNA’s management to scale operations, broaden its project portfolio, and deepen its footprint across Indonesia.

“SESNA is one of the key renewable players in Indonesia with proven execution capability that aligns with our conviction on Southeast Asia’s decarbonisation opportunity. This investment supports SESNA’s growth and Indonesia’s ambition for sustainable, long–term industrial competitiveness,” said Arsjad Rasyid, founder and Chairman of Sriwijaya Capital.

Rico Syah Alam, CEO of SESNA, stated, “Sriwijaya Capital’s strategic capital and institutional network will accelerate our ability to deliver renewable energy projects at scale, while our approach remains grounded in strong fundamentals and measured execution, in support of Indonesia’s transition to cleaner energy.”

Founded in 2013, SESNA is recognised by the government as an early independent power producer (IPP) in the sector. The company builds solar solutions for mining, captive, commercial, and industrial customers.

SESNA has delivered more than 30 MWp of operational solar capacity and has a development pipeline exceeding 450 MWp. Its portfolio spans hybrid renewable systems, rooftop solar installations, and utility-scale ground-mounted projects tailored for energy-intensive industries pursuing decarbonisation.

The company provides end-to-end services from project development to operations and maintenance, including a zero-capex solar offering aimed at accelerating solar adoption.

The investment will help fund the development of a 262-MWp solar farm combined with an 80-megawatt-hour battery energy storage system in Central Sulawesi.
