Vietnam Digest: HSBC loan for GELEX Infra; VOI eyes investments in Cambodia

HSBC has provided a $40-million loan for GELEX Infrastructure, a subsidiary of Vietnam’s industrial production and infrastructure operator GELEX Group, while Vietnam Oman Investment (VOI) is exploring investment opportunities in Cambodia.

HSBC has provided a $40-million loan for GELEX Infrastructure, a subsidiary of Vietnam’s industrial production and infrastructure operator GELEX Group, according to an announcement.

GELEX Group, which is into industrial parks, real estate, energy and clean water, has several subsidiaries, such as Viglacera Corporation, Song Da Water Investment JSC, and Long Son Petrochemical Industrial Park Investment JSC.

The loan will provide the company with long-term foreign currency financing, enabling continued investment in its core business areas and supporting long-term growth strategies.

HSBC Vietnam recently provided a loan for electronics retailer Mobile World Joint Stock Company to support its working capital needs.

Vietnam Oman Investment taps opportunities in Cambodia

Vietnam Oman Investment (VOI), a joint venture fund between the two governments, is exploring investment opportunities in Cambodia, according to an announcement.
The VOI delegation engaged in high-level talks with officials from the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) to tap cross-border collaborations across agriculture, logistics, infrastructure, and cashew processing.

VOI was established in 2008 as part of the Joint Committee on Economic and Technical Cooperation between the two countries. The investment vehicle is backed by the Oman Investment Authority and State Capital Investment Corporation of Vietnam.
