Investment banking advisory firm Evercore has announced the appointment of Ben Hart as a senior managing director and head of its Asia Private Capital Advisory (PCA) business.

Based in Singapore, Hart will oversee Evercore PCA’s activities across the Asia-Pacific region and work with the firm’s global team to expand its secondaries advisory and broader private markets capabilities, Evercore said in a statement.

Hart has more than 20 years of experience in private markets fundraising and investor relations across Asia-Pacific, Evercore added. He most recently served as a partner and head of investor relations (Asia) at Adams Street Partners.

“I am excited to join the team and help build on its strong momentum in one of the most dynamic private markets regions, where secondary opportunities are expanding rapidly,” Hart said.

Nigel Dawn, global head of Evercore’s PCA unit, said Hart’s track record in capital raising and distribution across Asia would bolster the firm’s regional platform.

Evercore Asia Chairman Keith Magnus said the hire underscores Evercore’s push to scale its private capital advisory franchise in the region.

Evercore is a New York-based independent investment bank that advises companies and investors on mergers and acquisitions, private capital deals, restructurings, and capital raising, and also offers equity research and wealth management.

Founded in 1995, the firm is headquartered in New York and maintains offices and affiliate offices in major financial centers in the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.

Last year, Shane Gong, Evercore’s head of private capital for Asia-Pacific, left the firm to join $14-billion mid-market manager Inflexion Private Equity.
